Temporarily blocked cards

Your temporarily blocked cards will stay visible in your ๐Ÿ’ณ Cards Tab.

They will feature a little โ„๏ธ Frozen sign to remind you that they are deactivated. If you would like to reactivate your card, you can do so by following the steps outlined here.

Keep in mind: Temporarily blocked cards still count toward your plan's card limit. If you'd like to order a new card, you may need to permanently block your card before ordering a new one.

For example, if you're on the bunq Free plan, you can only have 1 digital card. When you temporarily block your card and try to order a new one, the app will suggest an upgrade. To get a new digital card and stay on the bunq Free plan without upgrading, you can permanently block your existing card, and then order a new one.

Permanently blocked cards

To keep your ๐Ÿ’ณ Cards Tab tidy and easy-toโ€“navigate, we move your permanently blocked cards to the *Archive.

Can my card get automatically blocked?

Due to security reasons, your card will be automatically blocked temporarily if there are multiple failed card transactions due to insufficient balance. If the same card keeps experiencing more failed transactions, it'll be blocked permanently.

In case your card is only blocked temporarily, you can re-activate it by simply following the steps explained above - once you do, you'll be able to either top-up the Bank Account linked to the card in question or link the card to a Bank Account with sufficient balance.
